Most of the time they will need over seeding to get a thicker look, some gardeners will advise that you water the grass a lot with fertilizer, that may not work. The best option to have a better lawn in your garden shade is to purchase seed mixes that are designed for that purpose.
It is because of the poor growth of lawns that many people seem unsure of a shade garden but once they have replaced lawn with plants they find the garden looking just as lovely even though there is less lawn. If you cannot live without a lawn then there is always the option of shade-tolerant lawn covers that make areas of green and require small amounts of maintenance.
To increase levels of light in your garden shade, then there are some simple things you can do. Painting a wall white is a good way of increasing the light and the same effect can be achieved with white furniture. Trimming the foliage so that it lets in more light is also another way of increasing the light your garden receives.
