Tips on How to Store Rock Climbing Equipment

Everyone who rock climbs should know how to store rock climbing equipment. Proper storage will ensure that your equipment lasts as long as possible. Rock climbing equipment is expensive and so you want to protect your investment. Not only that but if you don't store it correctly, it could become damaged and unsafe; and that' the last thing you want to happen to your rock climbing equipment. If you've been going to a rock climbing studio, it's likely the instructors have given you some instruction on how to store rock climbing equipment. However, if you've never seen how it's done or never really thought about it, the good news is that it's not very difficult. It just take some focus and attention to what you're doing and it takes a little know how in order to learn how to store rock climbing equipment.

Where

The first step in knowing how to store rock climbing equipment is knowing where to store it. You should store it in a nice, cool area that won't be subjected to the elements. You'd be surprised how rain and even sunlight can damage and wear good rock climbing equipment. An ideal place would be a trunk in your home or even in a drawer. If you're going to store it in a bag, make sure the bag zips up and keeps everything secure.

Rope

When learning how to store rock climbing equipment, you need to pay special attention to the rope. Rope will suspend you on the rock climbing wall. Even though you'll be doing the climbing with your hands and feet, the rope is there to ensure you don't plummet to the ground in case you fall. It's like a safety net for trapeze artists. Make sure when storing your rope, you wrap it around your arm or some other object so that it loops uniformly. Not only will this keep your rope from wearing too quickly, it will also make it easier for you to unravel it the next time you want to go climbing. If you don't store your rope properly, it can get tangled and this can wear it quickly. That's not to mention the time it's going to take to get the rope straight again the next time you're ready to climb.

The most important thing you can do when learning how to store rock climbing equipment is pay attention to what you're doing. Treat your equipment with respect and it will protect you for a long time so that you can enjoy your favorite activity.
