Fishing is an activity which can provide enjoyment for hours. But it can be dangerous if you have no knowledge about this activity. It takes practice and patience with dedication to learn fishing. If you are new to this activity, you should remember some basic things so that you may enjoy fishing to the fullest. Following are some steps which would guide you the basic needs and ways of fishing:

Fixing the Equipment

. Fix the rod in a way so that the line rings are properly aligned. Now, fix the reel to the rod in such a way that it comes at the top portion of the handle. It should be kept in mind that that the reels coil is in line with the rod's very first line ring. After this, you should unfasten the bale arm of the reel and fix the line via all the other line guides or rings.

. To tie the float, wind up the line through the tiny eye present at the bottom of the float.

. Next, you need to fix a shot to place the float at the correct level in the water. The level at which the float should be placed can be determined with the help of the guide that comes with it. The float guide tells you the appropriate way to use the float and at what level it functions well. For better results, it is general fact that majority of split shots should be positioned at the bottom portion of the float. The rest of the split shot can be of smaller range and cover the area equally.

. After this, take an appropriate sized hook (most preferred is 18 ready-tied) and fasten it with the end portion of the line. It should be noted that if you are fishing with the help of a small pole, you just need to tie all the parts to each other to form the length of rod (which should be up to the level of water you want the fishing rod to reach) and after this, fix a length of line together with float in the same manner as it is done.

. The most important part of fishing, apart from fixing the fishing rod is to have a sound knowledge about the depth of the water where you are fishing. This can be done by attaching the plummet with the hook and then allow it to hang beneath the float. Next, sway the plummet in the expected fishing area.the float will either stay flat or sink in the water and this nature of float will tell you whether the water is too deep or too shallow. Now, you can drag the rig back and adjust it accordingly. This process should be repeated until you get an exact idea about the depth of the water.

. After the depth is known and the float rig has been adjusted, detach the plummet and you are ready for fishing. Fishing is considered to be a relaxing activity and hence should be done in a resting position.
