Change is indeed inevitable. This maxim holds true for musicians who dare to cross over to the silver screen from the airwaves. Here's a compilation of 10 musicians who were not just popular for their voice talents, but also their acting prowess. You can catch the music of all of these stars on internet radio.

Whitney Houston - as early as eleven, Whitney started performing in junior gospel choir at her New Jersey church. Her self-titled debut album became the best-selling album when it was released, while her second album became the first of her albums to top the US and UK album charts. Her successes in the music industry have helped paved the way for other African-American singers to show their talents.

In addition to being a successful recording artists, Whitney has had successful acting roles, starring in "The Body Guard" with Kevin Costner. The movie soundtrack single "I Will Always Love You" has is one of the best selling single recording the the long history of the recording industry. On the following year, she continued starring on movies such as "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife" which she contributed soundtracks to.

Madonna - she has showcases her skills in the movie industry as well as a recording artist. Her silver screen appearances include movies such as "Dick Tracy" as a temptress, "Four Rooms" as a lustful coven member and "Swept Away" as a na?ve socialite who got stranded on a remote island. Her most successful film was "Evita", in which she earned a Golden Globe award for her depiction of Eva Peron.

Janet Jackson - at sixteen years old she penned her initial recording contract. Faced with numerous criticisms, she persevered to become a successful recording star. Although she originally appeared on TV series such as "The Jacksons", "Good Times" and "Fame" she made it to the silver screen starring in the movie "Poetic Justice" followed by "Why Did I Get Married" and "For Colored Girls". Jennifer Lopez - she is probably one of the most talented celebrities combining dancing, singing and acting. Her popular movies include "Shall We Dance (with Richard Gere as her ballroom dance instructor), "Anaconda" as a director of National Geographic and, of course, giving life to "Selena". She has garnered prominence and recognition from various organizations, most notably, the Golden Globe. She was also listed as the 2007 Guinness Book of World Records' most powerful actress.

Jon Bon Jovi - several of his best known movies are "Pay It Forward" as the abusive husband of Helen Hunt, "U571" in which he played the role of an US submarine chief engineer, and as a suspicious teacher in "Cry Wolf"

Ice-T - several of the films in which he played a prominent part are "Tank Girl" as a mutant kangaroo, "New Jack City" as an undercover cop, and "Johnny Mnemonic" as group leader. On television, he had a prominent role in "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" as a police detective, for which he received several nominations and later won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

These are just some of the performers who made their names not just on the airwaves, but also on the silver screen. Other crossover performers not mentioned here have had great success, while others have faded into obscurity along with movie roles they played. Naturally, music-lovers everywhere look forward to many future appearances on the screen by their favorite artists.
