The Bermuda grass belongs to the Cynodon family. It is very common and popular to many because of its many superior characteristics. It is highly resistant to drought compared to other types. It can bear the intense heat of the sun. It is compatible with many kinds of soil. It does not require much maintenance that it could practically grow on its own upon planting the seeds. You just have to water regularly.

This grass will greatly accentuate any home. Your backyard will look very pleasant and fresh, and will provide a playground for your children. Its color is lush green all year round. The seeds are very cheap and could be grown on any climate. This is the reason why it is typically seen in almost all places.

Bermuda grass needs summer season temperature of about 65 to 75 degrees. It should also be kept moist to further foster growth. Water the lawn regularly once the seeds are planted. Also regularly check on the soil temperature because drastic changes damage the germination. Always maintain just the right temperature. It will dry and kill the seeds if it is too hot.

Before anything else, toil the areas where the grass will be planted. This is removing all elements that may affect the growth of the Bermuda, like weeds, anthills or termites. Plant seeds not too shallow or deep under the soil. Place them uniformly apart from each other. If they are too crowded, the grass will compete against each other for nutrients and the sun. It will result to thinner grass also. You want the roots to develop firmly. Bermuda grass takes 60 to 90 days to complete germination.

Maintain the perfect balance in soil although Bermuda is fairly easy to grow. Still, soil plays an important role in the overall healthy growth of the grass. Add fertilizers if necessary. There are the PH-neutralizing chemicals you could apply for the grass to grow healthier and greener.

Weeds are very detrimental to the growth of any plants, including the Bermuda. It also competes with the suns energy and the water that should be better left alone for the grass. So be sure you weed regularly the lawn.

A perfect lawn is achieved through several factors. First, there is a proper grass height to follow. The recommended height is 1.5 inches.

It is important to maintain a certain height because if it is too high the roots might be blocked of the nutrients of the sun. Use a mower with very sharp blades so it can cut even the thickest grass. Also check the efficiency of your draining system because the grass can be damaged if it is soaked in water for an extended period.

Do not put more fertilizer than is necessary. Putting too much will only have an adverse effect on your lawn. Take note of bare spots and repair it. You want to create a seamless look where the lawn is fully covered with grass. Bare spots are unsightly.

Keep a schedule and water on time as much as possible. You could lessen the water on rainy days as it will partially feed on the rains also.

It may be easy to grow, but just like any other plant, Bermuda also needs your care and proper nourishments if it is to grow healthy and green. Take care of this grass and you will have a perfectly beautiful lawn.
