The End of the world is approaching two years from now. The ancient Mayan calendar armageddon theory has identified the day that all of the planet as we know it would come to an end, and the date is on December 21st, 2012. The belief and the concepts circulating 2012 the end of the world prophecy has grown in popularity as compared to a lot of Apocalypse and the antichrist theories and predictions that have caused such uproar over the course of decades. Despite the fact that there are many failed End of the world prophecies, the first of which dates as far back as 1669, many people these days are convinced of the authenticity of the ancient Mayan predictions, the question now is, why?
Taking into consideration the last armageddon prediction in the year 2000, it IS rather fascinating why the ancient Mayan 2012 apocalypse prophecy had a lot of people believing, so much so that Hollywood banked on said popularity and earned millions by making a movie about it. If we are to discuss the motives fueling this belief, the first on the list would be the fact that the ancient Mayans are known worldwide as a civilization that is highly developed in the study of astronomy and mathematics and they are a race that is intensely tuned with their spirituality and religion. The ancient Mayan calendar, which is mathematically and astronomically exact, states that the end of the Earth’s life cycle will come to an end on December 21st, 2012 and this is the most popularly referenced part of the theory. Scientists and astronomy scholars have gone back and forth debating on the accurateness of said ancient calculations as well as the calendar however, in the end they all agreed that the ancient Mayan’s calculation of the lunar cycle’s length, which is 329.53020 days, is no more than thirty seconds off as in comparison to the lunar cycle length that is accepted and used until today, so yes, hands down the ancient calendar is reputable.
And there is another End of the world theory that had began and fueled the 2012 official countdown. A shifting of the poles is another theory that has a large amount of people believing in the 2012 doomsday prophecies because the last magnetic pole shift is said to have wiped out the dinosaurs.
There are of course other concepts that spread around the world which are somewhat less scary; and that is in the year 2012, the world as we now know it will end, however, not in the way that the movies and the other end of the world prophecies have pictured, but the value of living and the level of awareness and spirituality and knowledge of all people living in the world will be considerably heightened. Now if the End of the planet is really less than two years away, what are you going to do until then?
