Hypoallergenic dogs can be hairy as well as hairless. These shed less drool and hair than normal breed of dogs, hence minimizing the chances of allergy.

Hypoallergenic dogs are a big relief for those who are allergic to dogs and can't have them as pet. Such individuals when comes in a close proximity with dogs end up in sneezing and sniffling endlessly. Apart from this, the person suffering from dog allergies also have skin rashes, watery eyes, stuffy nose and itching on the skin. Thanks to hypoallergenic breed that allows the dog allergic individuals to have a canine pet.

Normally, the dog allergy symptoms develop because of the allergen particles which are present in the skin and hair of the dogs. These particles are shed along with the hair, stool, saliva and dander of the dogs and when carried away along with pollen and dust, these flair allergies. Immune system of dog allergic individuals is weaker than others and when they come in contact with such pollens carrying allergens, they suffer from various symptoms of allergy, including sneezing, stuffy nose, skin rashes and itching. Individuals suffering from dog allergies face a rough time when they are in close proximities with the dogs.

Why dogs cause more allergy? The answer behind this question is that dogs have more hair to pick up allergens. This is the reason that German Shepherd, Afghan Hound and Irish Setter are not recommended to be kept as a pet for animal allergic people.

There are several species of dogs which are considered to be hypoallergenic dogs. Irish Terrier, Miniature Schnauzers, Samoyed, Pomeranian and Water Dog are great as pets as these have minimal shedding of hair and thus minimal danger of any allergy. Apart from these, Mexican Hairless, Incha Orchid, Chinese Crested and American Hairless Terrierm also make an ideal choice as hypoallergenic dogs.
