This stops the dog from being able to move around within the car and potentially cause an accident because you are distracted and helps to keep everyone safe. If you are planning a longer journey, especially if it involves a flight then a crate is essential. It is less stressful for your pet and easier all around if the animal is used to traveling in an enclosed space.
Some people don't like the idea of Dog cages, but if used correctly they can provide a safe and secure environment for your pet to rest at the times when you are unable to watch over them. It can help to keep your dog out of trouble and stop them from doing any damage when you're not looking. It can also make your dog safer when you are traveling in your car or on longer journeys.
