Using A Petrol Long Reach Hedge Trimmer To Cut Tall Hedges In Safety

A petrol long reach hedge trimmer is a fantastic tool for any gardener who has to deal with cutting high hedging or tall shrubs in the garden. The main reason that these trimmers are so popular is that they make it possible to cut even tall hedges in safety as there is no need to climb up a ladder.

A long reach hedge trimmer is obviously going to be a little more difficult to manoeuvre than a general purpose one and the trick is that the first thing you should look for is how well balanced the machine is. It is no good trying to economise, buying a cheaper model and then finding that the balance is so bad, that your back and shoulders are aching so badly after about an hour's use that you have to stop before you finish the job.

The engine fumes will be carried away from your face when you are using your hedge trimmer. This is reassuring if you are concerned about breathing in noxious gassess from the exhaust. If you are still concerned, take a look at the design when you are choosing a model, pick up the machine and hold it as you would when cutting the hedge and you will be able to see that there is nothing to be concerned about there.

One of the main joys for me of owning a long reach trimmer is that I can rotate the cutting bar through 90 degrees and cut the top of my hedge nice and neatly whilst still keeping both feet planted safely on the ground! You need to look for one that has articulating blades or it may be described as an adjustable cutter bar head. In either case, you will be able to use your trimmer with blades set at the most comfortable working angle for you which will enable you to get the job done with minimal effort and maximum efficiency.

Eye protection is vital when working with any hedge trimmer and even more so when you think that you will be looking up when using your long reach trimmer. The only slight drawback of a petrol machine is the noise. There is no getting away from the fact that an electric trimmer will be quieter which might be more popular with your neighbours but the extra noise can easily be dealt with for you, as the operator by wearing a good pair of ear defenders.

A long reach petrol hedge trimmer will save you time and effort and potentially, keep you a lot safer as not only will you not have to worry about trailing electric cords, you will not have to worry about falling off a ladder either! Almost all people who have had the opportunity to use a long reach hedge trimmer say that they would never go back to trying to cut their hedging from up a ladder now that they know how easily it can be done whilst keeping both feet firmly on the ground!
