It doesn't matter if you're just looking to go out with a few friends on a Saturday to catch some fish or you've entered a tournament hoping to catch a monster. When you know the simple things about fishing for bass the more complex things become a lot easier.

Names of Bass
Depending on where you are will determine what type of bass you're going to try to catch. There are many different types of bass in the world and they come in all sizes, shapes and colors. Some of the most common bass are:
Largemouth bass
Smallmouth bass
Striped bass
Spotted bass
Sea bass

These are just a few of the most common bass in the world. There are also many different families and classes of these fish. Depending on the part of the world you're from will also depend on what nicknames certain bass will have. Some bass will be referred to as something different depending on the part of the world you're in.

Regardless of what you call bass, they are creatures that can be studied and watched. Bass of all kinds have similar features and habits that are common among all types. This is especially useful information when you are going to go out fishing. Knowing how the fish acts is just as important as knowing where to find it at.

Bass Habitats
When you are going to go fish for bass you need to understand how and where they live at. While you can find bass in rivers and streams, you're much more likely to find them in lakes and ponds. They prefer to have structure to hide in that's either man-made or natural. Dams are a good spot to find bass because of the way the water flows from it and that it turns up the bottom of the water. This makes a great place for bass to hunt for food since things are constantly moving by.
