Your husband may be the kind of guy that would want to be planning a mountain bike trip to gain his youth back even though you think he's the same guy you married many years ago. Unfortunately their's nothing you can do to stop him because he's already thinking about where he would want to go.
It helps some people when they make lists of what they have to do and stick it on their fridge so that way they will see it everyday and they will not miss anything. Other people may think it's silly to make lists because they may think it would be wasting their time but honestly you have to fully plan out anything so you will not have to worry about if you forgot something.
Road trips are always a fun way to spend time with your friends whether you're listening to music or just having conversations. Plus it's less expensive than buying plane tickets and you could all pitch in for gas when you're on the road so it won't cost as much. Not only is it less expensive, but you also don't have to do as much planning because you won't have to call ahead for plane tickets.
Since you have already decided that you would want to go on a road trip instead of flying, then that part is settled. You still have to decide on when you want to go because you have to go at a time where everyone is going to be free. You also have to decide where you want to go. Before you get in a car and start driving somewhere, you have to know where to go so that's a very important decision to make.
Once he has taken the necessary time he needs off work, has figured out where he's going to go, and how he's going to get there, then it's time to start getting ready. He may be gone a week or just for the weekend. It's hard when you have kids because he would not want to be away from his kids for a long period of time. Plus you do not want your wife to be worried about you as if she was not enough worried and you would hate for your kids to be worried so maybe only going for a weekend would be a good fit for you.
When you're an adult and planning a mountain bike trip, you want to make sure that when you take enough time off work that you need, you want to give your boss a good notice so he can find someone to replace you while you're gone. It depends on what kind of job you have but if you have decided to just go for the weekend, you may not need to take any time off work. It depends on whether you work on the weekends or you don't. You may have a job where you don't know what your schedule's going to be. If that's the case, then take it off anyways so you won't be worried about whether or not your boss is going to let you go.
