If you are headed to the country, not only do you have to pack different clothing to deal with chilly nights or too warm days, you have to think about your footwear, too. Depending on the activities you will be doing truly is how to choose the best country footwear for your feet. Taking care of your feet with the right country footwear is almost as important as your feet are.

For example, if you were going to a small farm, you surely wouldn't want to wear a pair of dress shoes, or even just plain sneakers. With the tall grasses and weeds, mud and animal feed, not to mention any holes that you can't see, you have to wear a shoe that is not only going to protect your feet, but give you added support. In fact, if the weather is going to be bad, such as rain or snow, you will have to think about waterproof country footwear and lined country footwear.

In a case such as this, you want to find a good boot that has a tall shank and solid gusset. Make sure it is waterproof and lined. If you have particularly thin calves, look for one that also has laces in order to tighten the boot closer to your foot. A good tread is also important to help keep you from slipping and falling in snow, on ice, or in mud. A Wellington style boot handles all of these chores particularly well, plus has the added advantage of being a form of country footwear that is highly durable.

If you are going hiking, your considerations are going to change. Since you are no longer on a level surface, you are going to need to look at country wear such as hikers. These boots are very tough and durable, have a good thick sole and are made from leather. Leather can stop most puncturing things such as thorns and sharp rocks. They have fairly rigid ankle support to help prevent sprains from walking on uneven ground and usually some form of a waffle-style sole for superb traction. Many styles even offer a steel toe. This can be very significant if you are in rocky country where there is a lot of loose rock. This form of country footwear is also known as a walker or walking boot or shoe.

For those who hunt or just go find a nice field for shooting, looking at country footwear known as shooting boots is something you really need to consider. Generally made of leather, they are waterproof and breathable which greatly enhances comfort. The soles are rugged and provide an excellent grip. They are generally a little more fitted to the foot and calf and often have a zipper to help get them off and on.

Choose the country footwear that is going to be the best for you and your journey. Your feet will thank you when you finally get home.
